Do you have to be LGBTQ+ to join?
No, GHDC is an inclusive gay-straight adult hockey team where civility, respect, and sportsmanship is expected from their members.
Do I need to know how to skate/play hockey to join?
No, but If you are willing to learn to skate and learn to play hockey, the DMV area has many ice rinks. GHDC uses the Washington Capitals’ Medstar Capitals Iceplex which offers adult ice skating classes from beginner (Level 1) to advance (Level 4). Usually, after Ice Skate Level 2 class you can specialize into learn to Ice Hockey Skate (Level 1 to 4). After completing Ice Hockey Skate (Level 2) you are eligible to enroll in adult Learn To Play (LTP) hockey where you can incorporate your new hockey skills in an organized learning environment. LTP involves drills and scrimmages.
